Coker Splits First Day of NGU Invitational

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's volleyball team split its first two matches of the NGU Invitational hosted by North Greenville University on Friday (Sept. 5). The Cobras picked up a 3-0 victory against the St. Andrews University Knights in their opener, but fell 3-1 to the Fighting Koalas of Columbia College in the nightcap.

Leading Coker in the 3-0 dismantling of St. Andrews was Toni Hammer with nine kills and two blocks, while Madison Bingle and Celia Duggan added eight and seven kills, respectively. Pacing Coker's offense was Christen Bragg with 32 assists and Missy Reid led the defense with seven digs.

In the Cobras' 3-1 loss, Megan Hardy led the attack with 11 kills, while Bingle knocked home eight kills and added a match-high eight digs. Missy Reid also tallied eight digs, while Bragg dished out a match-high 30 assists.

The Navy and Yellow will wrap up the two-day tournament tomorrow (Sept. 6) with a 10 a.m. match against Clark Atlanta University, followed by a 2 p.m. tilt against host North Greenville University.
