Coker Falls to Francis Marion 3-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Sophomore Taylor Willis (Zephyrhills, FL) was an offensive powerhouse for the Cobra volleyball team on Wednesday night as she tallied 15 kills, but Coker was unable to pick up the victory against local rival Francis Marion, falling 3-1.  

Coker's offense was led by Willis (15 kills) and junior April Griggs (Bishopville, SC) who had seven kills and three solo blocks.  Sophomore setter Kelly Stine (Fort Collins, CO) had 24 assists.  

Francis Marion senior Danielle Parker (Lockwood, MO) led the way for the Patriots with 11 kills and four block assists.  Junior Liz Drewry (Richmond, VA) and sophomore Megan Mooney (Lake Oswego, OR) each had six kills, while senior Amanda Mitchell (Farragut, TN) added eight kills of her own.  Mooney also had three solo blocks.

Francis Marion took a 2-0 set lead early, while Coker battled back to win the third set to make the match 2-1.  Francis Marion took the fourth and final set 25-20.  Coker falls to 4-4 on the season; Francis Marion is now 5-4.  

Coker's next match is Friday, September 16, at home against Converse.  The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
