Augusta, GA- The Coker Volleyball Team opened the 2007 season by traveling to Augusta State University to play in the Jaguar Classic, unfortunately for the Cobras things did not turn out as planned. Coker dropped their first match of the day to 2006 Peach Belt Champion, USC-Aiken, 3-0, with scores of 30-15, 30-22, and 30-22. The second game of the classic wasn’t much better, as the Cobras fell to host Augusta State 3-0, with scores of 30-17, 30-28, and 30-22.
Leading the Cobras in day one were seniors Megan Haupt/Summerville, SC, and Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA. Haupt had a combined 22 kills, while Madison had a combined 24 kills. Senior Courtney Butrym/Columbia, SC, had 36 assists between the two games.
With their first day complete the Cobras have a 0-2 record, as they prepare to face West Alabama and Paine on Saturday.
