Barkins and Ruff Set Records, Cobras Dazzle at Phoenix Invitational

ELON, N.C. -- The Coker College women's track and field team enjoyed a record-setting day at the Phoenix Invitational on Saturday (Apr. 6).

Caterra Barkins absolutely shattered her own discus record with a distance of 37.23 meters. Barkins has posted the top three discus marks in school history since March 16th. Myia West and Mikayla Cline also had big performances in the discus, combining with Barkins for three of the top six distances in Coker history. West finished with a mark of 34.45 meters, and Cline with 33.59 meters.

Barkins and West also notched personal bests in the hammer with Barkins posting the third-best distance in Coker history at 31.61 and West the fifth-best at 30.81.

Kaylah Ruff continued her dominant senior season by tying her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.35 seconds. Ruff now owns the top nine 100-meter hurdles times in Coker history.

Trinity White was a revelation in the 400-meters, finishing fifth overall with a blazing time of 59.26 seconds. White's mark, the first in her Coker career, was good for fifth in school history.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Columbia for the Gamecock Invitational.
