Kaylah Ruff and Trinity White Set New Records at USC Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Coker College women's track and field team enjoyed yet another record-breaking weekend at the USC Open on Saturday (Feb. 16).

Kaylah Ruff headlined a historic day for the Coker women's track and field team, beating her own 60-meter hurdles record not just once, but twice. Ruff recorded a time of 8.77 in her first run of the day, besting her previous record of 9.00 at the SAC Championships last year. She followed that up with a blazing 8.67 seconds, establishing the new Coker record.

Not to be outdone, Trinity White and Lauren Mustapher each took turns breaking the Coker women's 400-meter record. White recorded a time of 58.95, and Mustapher followed with the new record time of 58.62. Rai'Nesha Taylor had held the record since 2016 until White and Mustapher smashed it on Sunday.

Angel Gale then put her name in the record books with the fastest 300-meter time in school history at 42.89, and Chauntress Like notched the second-fastest 600-meter time in school history at 1:51.70.

The Cobras will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Winston-Salem on Saturday (Feb. 23) and Sunday (Feb. 24) for the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships.
