Records Fall as Coker Women's Track and Field Dazzle at Carolina Challenge

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Coker College women's track and field team enjoyed yet another record-breaking weekend at the Carolina Challenge in Columbia on Friday (Feb. 1) and Saturday (Feb. 2)

Kaylah Ruff started the trend in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a school-record time of 8.87 seconds, beating her own record set just three weeks ago. Ruff now owns the top four 60-meter hurdles times in school history.

Freshman Lauren Mustapher took part in two school records this weekend, setting the school's 200-meter record with a blazing time of 25.57, and then serving as the anchor on the team's 4x400 relay team with an impressive mark of 57.13 in her leg of the race.

Mustapher set the 4x400 relay record along with Angel Gale, Trinity White, and Syriah Lottimore, who combined for the record time of 3:59.71 -- seven seconds faster than the previous school record.

Trinity White notched the third fastest 400-meter time in school history, narrowly missing the record for the second time this season with a time of 1:00.29, and Caterra Barkins continued her assault on the Coker weight throw record books, posting the third-best distance in school history at 35'0.72.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Feb. 16) when they travel back to Columbia for the USC Open. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
