Lott Qualifies for USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker College senior runner Darroneshia Lott has qualified for the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships after her performance at the Music City Distance Carnival this past Saturday (Jun. 2).

Lott ran an impressive time, stepping across the finish line in 2:01.26, good for sixth out of 20 runners that participated in the 800-meter at the prestigious professional meet. The time was an improvement from her NCAA Division II Championship 800-meter final performance (2:01.37), which was nullified from a lane violation. Additionally, Lott defeated runners from Great Britain, Furman, Penn State, Arkansas, and several other runners that ran unattached.

"Her performance was absolutely amazing," said Coker head track & field coach Tom Scott. "For her to bounce back after everything that happened last week, and for her to run faster is incredible. She has worked so hard for everything that she has accomplished and we are excited to see what she can do in a few weeks in Des Moines!"

Lott will head to Des Moines, Iowa to compete at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 800-meter from June 21-24. The Championships will be held at Drake University.
