Lott and Ruff Collect Three Individual Titles, Three Cobra Records Broken at SAC Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Marking territory in Charlotte, N.C. at the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Coker College women's track and field team proved to be a force to be reckoned with on Friday, April 20. In the second day of the Championships, three Coker College program records were broken, while Kaylah Ruff landed a top podium and Darroneshia Lott claimed two Individual Titles. The Navy and Gold brought home a fourth place finish. 

Senior runner Darroneshia Lott brought home two more Individual Titles, one in the 1500-meter and the other in the 800-meter. Lott's time in the 1500-meter landed her the second-fastest time at Coker, only behind herself with a time of 4:29.56. In the 800-meter, Lott cruised to her first place finish in 2:12.82.

Kaylah Ruff also added an Individual Title for the Navy and Gold running a 14.48 in the 100-meter hurdles. The time stands as the second-fastest for the Cobras.

Caterra Barkins picked up another program record in the discus, tossing for 112' 11" and a 10th place finish.

Coker's 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter teams collected a record day. Jalecia Williamson, Autumn Walters, Angel Gale and Noelia Leake participated in the 4x100-meter, claiming a second place finish in the time of 46.93, the fastest time ever set at Coker. Next, Williamson, Lisa Foster, Ruff and Lott claimed a second place finish, and the fastest to be ran for the Cobras in the 4x400-meter in 3:55.28.

Deonzha Jackson tallied a seventh place finish in the women's long jump with a distance of 17' 5.25", fourth-best for the program.

Charity Snelling competed in the high jump and triple jump events. Snelling claimed second in the high jump (5' 3.75") tied for the third-best at Coker; fifth in the triple jump (36' 7") third-best for Coker.

Ruff, Gale and Snelling took fourth, fifth and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in times of 1:04.41, 1:05.41, and 1:06.93. Ruff's mark puts her at the third-fastest, Gale sixth-fastest and Snelling eight-fastest in Coker history.

Noelia Leake and Autumn Walters ran times of 12.20 and 12.47 in the 100-meter dash to take third and eighth respectively.

Leake also ran in the 200-meter, finishing third in the time of 25.06 which is now the fifth-fastest run for the Navy and Gold.

Next on the schedule for the women's track and field program is the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships held May 24-26.
