Snelling Wins Individual Title, New School Records Set at CSU Spring Break Invitational

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.- The Coker College women's track and field team had an individual champion and several new school records set on Saturday, March 17 in the second day at the Charleston Southern University Spring Break Invitational. 

Charity Snelling took the top of the podium in the women's high jump with the mark of 5' 3". The jump puts Snelling fifth overall in the Coker record books.

Kaylah Ruff and Asante Rice made their way into the 100-meter hurdle finals on Saturday, finishing third and sixth in the times of 14.64 and 15.39 respectively. Ruff's time sets a new program record.

The Navy and Gold then proceeded to set a new record in the 4x100-meter event, finishing third overall with a time of 47.37. Jalecia Williamson, Autumn Walters, Angel Gale, and Noelia Leake all made it possible.

Caterra Barkins also reeled in a new high-mark for the Cobras in the discus, tossing a distance of 107' 8". Barkins finished seventh overall in the event.

Talicia Murphy and Snelling both competed in the triple jump bringing in fourth and fifth place finishes with jumps of 35' 10" and 35' 9.25". Murphy's mark is good for second all-time, Snelling's for third.

Four Cobras brought home third, fourth, fifth, and sixth place finishes in the 400-meter hurdle finals. Snelling and Gale finished in times of 1:07.53 and 1:07.65. Williamson and Ruff finished next in times of 1:09.47 and 1:10.07.

Coker's women's track and field team will next be in action on Friday and Saturday, March 23-24 at the Weems Baskin Invitational from Columbia, S.C. Results from the event can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
