Cobras Land Five on USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – The Coker College women's track and field team had five members named to the 2017 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region team, the association announced today.

The top-five individuals in each event from each region during the 2016-17 NCAA Division II outdoor track and field season were named to the all-region team. In the southeast region, Angel Gale was named to the team for her performance in the 400-meter hurdles, Da'Sha Jobes in the long jump, Noelia Leake in the 100-meters, Darroneshia Lott in the 800 and 1500-meters and Charity Snelling in the high jump.

Gale finished her sophomore season with two top-two finishes in 400-meter hurdles events. She won the 400-meter hurdles at the Lenoir-Rhyne University Southside Power & Fitness Invitational. She then finished second in the event at the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships, running a personal-best time of 1:04.00. Gale finished the season ranked fifth in the southeast region.

Jobes finished her junior season with four top-ten finishes in long jump events. She won the Braves Track Classic and finished second at the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships. Her top distance of the season came at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, where she finished third with a distance of 18' 2.25". She is ranked fifth in the southeast region.

Leake finished her junior season with two wins and a runner-up showing in 100-meter dash events. She won the 100-meter dash at the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships and at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational. Her runner-up finish came at the Lenoir-Rhyne University Southside Power& Fitness Invitational, while her record-breaking time of 12 seconds came at the South Atlantic Conference Championships. She is ranked third in the southeast region.

Lott had an excellent junior season, picking up five wins in the 800-meter run and three wins in the 1500-meter run. In the 800-meter, her wins came at the USC Open, South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships, Weems Baskin Invitational, Lenoir-Rhyne University Southside Power & Fitness Invitational and the UNCW Seahawk Invitational. In the 1500-meter she won the SAC Championship, LRU Southside Power & Fitness Invitational and the Braves Track Classic. Her top 800-meter time of 2:07.99 came at the Weems Baskin Invitational, while her top 1500-meter time of 4:36.75 came at the South Atlantic Conference Championship. She is ranked first regionally in the 800-meter and seventh nationally. She is ranked fifth in the region in the 1500-meter.

Snelling collected two top-five finishes during the outdoor season, highlighted by a runner-up showing at the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships. Her top height of 1.62 meters came at the SAC Championships and was her best height of the season. She is ranked fourth in the southeast region.

Lott will travel to the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, from May 25-27
