Cobras Ranked Seventh in Regional Poll; Lott Ranked No. 6 Nationally in 800-Meter

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – The Coker College women's track and field team is ranked seventh in the week five U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings.

The Cobras are coming off a third-place showing at the South Atlantic Conference Championships, winning four events, placing second on six events and finishing third in three events.

Individually, Darroneshia Lott ranks sixth in NCAA Division II in the 800-meter run, running a top time of 2:07.99 at the Weems Baskin Invitational (Mar. 24). Her time is also the fastest time in the southeast region.

In all, the Cobras have team members ranking in the top-three regionally in the 100-meter dash, high jump and long jump. The Cobras also have members in the top-10 regionally in the 200-meter dash, 1500-meter, 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 4 x 100-meter relay, 4 x 400-meter relay, long jump, triple jump and heptathlon.

The 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, from May 25-27. Check back at www.USTFCCCA.org each week throughout the season for updated rankings.
