Cobras Finish Third At SAC Championships; Break Four School Records

HICKORY, N.C. – The Coker College women's track and field team finished third at the South Atlantic Conference Track and Field Championships, which concluded on Saturday (Apr. 15). The Cobras finished with 132.5 total points in the event.

Darroneshia Lott won the South Atlantic Conference title in both the 1500 and 800-meter run. In the 1500, Lott ran a school-record time of 4:36.75, beating the previous school record by five seconds. Lott ran a time of 2:12.68 in the 800-meter, winning the event by over five seconds.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Asante Rice won the South Atlantic Conference title, running a school-record time of 14.79 seconds. Kaylah Ruff finished in second with a time of 14.92 seconds.

Noelia Leake also brought home the gold in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 12.06 seconds.

The Cobras set a school record in the 4 x 400-meter relay, as the team of Angel Gale, Darroneshia Lott, Jalecia Williamson and Briana Nixon ran a time of 3:57.81, finishing in second place.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Angel Gale, Jalecia Williamson and Charity Snelling finished second, third and fourth in the event.

In the heptathlon, Tiffany Taylor finished in second. She won the javelin throw and finished second in the 100-meter hurdles and shot put.

In the triple jump, Charity Snelling finished third, with a school-record distance of 37' 6.5".  

In the 4 x 100-meter relay, the team of Williamson, Gale, Murphy and Leake finished in third, running a time of 48.18 seconds.
