Cobras Wrap Up Competition at Coastal Carolina Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Coker women's track & field team wrapped up competition at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Saturday (Mar. 14).  The Cobras brought home five top 15 finishes during the final day, including three top 10 finishes.

Mercy Muhuhu and Talicia Murphy each placed ninth in their respective events during day two to lead the Cobras. Muhuhu came in ninth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:23.20, while Murphy placed ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.22 meters.

Naomi Watson placed 32nd in the 3000-meter run with a time of 12:27.19 and Shauntel Smullen came in 16th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:26.07.

All three of the Cobra relay teams placed in the top 15. The 4x100-meter relay team placed 10th with a time of 50.34. The 4x400-meter team came in 15th with a time of 4:16.60 and the 4x800-meter team placed 13th with a time of 10:41.49.

The Cobras will return to Myrtle Beach for their next meet on Thursday (Mar. 19), the Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
