Leake and Foster Lead Cobras at USC Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Coker Cobra women's track and field team took part in the University of South Carolina Open meet on Saturday (Feb. 7).

Leading the way for the Cobras were freshmen Noella Leake and Lisa Foster. Leake finished ninth overall in the women's 55-meter dash with a time of 7.43. She was third overall out of the NCAA Division II runners. Foster came in third in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 1:09.76, she also placed fifth in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:54.14.

In the field events Da'Sha Jobes came in 17th in the long jump with a distance of 4.49 meters. Tamara McMichael placed 13th in the shot put with a distance of 8.48 meters and Alexis Berles placed 19th with a distance of 7.71 meters. McMichael also finished ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 6.35 meters, while Berles was 10th with a distance of 6.25 meters.

The Cobras will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
