Clarke Improves to 6-1, Cobras Fall to Mercyhurst at Spring TennisFest

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Coker College women's tennis team fell to Mercyhurst 5-2 in their opening match at the Spring TennisFest.

Charlotte Clarke continued her dominant sophomore campaign, picking up victories in both #1 doubles and #1 singles. Clarke teamed with Tamie Chew for a 6-3 doubles victory, and then downed Mercyhurst's #1 singles player, Kayla Frost, in a 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 thriller. Clarke is now 6-1 on the season in singles matches.

Kelly Hurt also posted a victory, winning in #6 singles (8-6). The victory was Hurt's second singles win of the season.

Coker will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 6) as they continue Spring TennisFest action against Palm Beach Atlantic.
