CENTRAL, S.C. -- The Coker College women's tennis team was dominant, picking up a 7-0 shutout victory over Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday (Feb. 13).
Tammie Chew and Zoe Heed picked up their first collegiate victories in #1 and #3 singles respectively. Chew won her match 6-2, 6-3 while Heed won 6-3, 6-3.
Lea Weber earned an 8-0 shutout in #4 singles, and Kelli Stinchcomb (6-0, 6-4), and Kelli Hurt (8-2) were also victorious.
Charlotte Clarke improved to 3-0 in #2 singles play on the season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
The Cobras even took two out of the three doubles matches with the team of Heed and Stinchcomb winning 6-4, and Weber and Hurt winning 6-0.
The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Mars Hill and open South Atlantic Conference action against the Lions. Matches are set to start at 2 p.m.
