Women’s Tennis Hosts Anderson on Senior Day

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College women's tennis team will host the visiting Anderson University Trojans Saturday (Apr. 14) afternoon on senior day at 2 p.m. Coker will be honoring seniors Jenna Gainey, Jennifer Mezei, Suzanna Mickey, and Julia Sorrells.

Gainey is a native of Bishopville, S.C. and is an exercise science major. A four year member of the Coker women's tennis team, Gainey has collected 13 victories in singles play and 12 wins in doubles action. In addition, Gainey was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete. She is the daughter of Candace and Sid Outlaw. She has three siblings; Katherine, Anna, and Lane.

Mezei is from Bavaria, Germany and majors in communications at Coker. A four year member for the Cobras, Mezei has recorded 31 wins in singles play, the second best mark in Coker history, and 25 victories in doubles play, the fourth best mark in program history. During the 2015-16 season, Mezei was named to the All-SAC honorable mention squad for doubles play. In addition, Mezei was named an ITA Scholar Athlete. She is the daughter of Eniko and Janos-A Mezei.

Mickey is native of Sumter, S.C. and is a biology major at Coker. A four year member of the Coker women's tennis program, Mickey has tallied 26 victories in singles play, the third best mark in program history, and 29 wins in doubles action, the third highest total in Coker history. In addition, Mickey was named an ITA Scholar Athlete. She is the daughter of Tammy and Scott Mickey. She has a brother named Cole.

Sorells is a native of Sumter, S.C. and is a physical education major at Coker. A two-year member of the Cobras, Sorrells has recorded seven singles victories and 14 doubles wins. In addition, Sorrells was named an ITA Scholar Athlete. She is the daughter of Kathy and Paul Sorrells. She has three siblings; Brian, Sarah, and Rachel.

Heading into tomorrow's match, Jennifer Mezei and Charlotte Clarke lead the Navy and Gold in singles play with 8-9 records. Mezei has picked up her eight victories at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 spots, while Clarke has earned victories at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, Mezei and Mickey have recorded a team-best 9-8 record, picking up four victories at the No. 1 position and five wins at No. 2 doubles.

Anderson heads into tomorrow's match with a 9-10 overall record and a 4-5 mark in conference action.
