Women’s Tennis Earns Decisive 7-2 Victory Over Mars Hill

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College women's tennis team earned a decisive 7-2 victory over the visiting Mars Hill University Lions Saturday (Mar. 31) afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play.

To begin the match, the Cobras took two of the three doubles matches. Jennifer Ruetten and Julia Sorrells earned an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Jenna Gainey and Charlotte Clarke followed with a dominant 8-0 decision at No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, Jennifer Mezei recorded a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the No. 1 position, improving her record to 7-7. Next, Ruetten cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles, while Sorrells collected a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 4 slot. Finally, Clarke picked up a dominant 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 5 singles and Gainey tallied an impressive 8-0 win at the No. 6 position.

The Cobras will be back in action when they travel to Newberry on Wednesday (Apr. 4) and take on the Wolves at 2 p.m.
