HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's tennis team (2-0) will host USC Aiken in their home opener on Friday (Feb. 9) afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Cobras last played on Feb. 3, where they defeated Benedict 8-1 and Erskine 6-3.
Suzanna Mickey, Jennifer Mezei, and Jenna Gainey finished undefeated in singles play. Mickey captured a 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 win over her Benedict opponent and a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Erskine at No. 2 singles. Mezei recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Benedict and a 6-0, 6-2 win over Erskine at No. 4 singles. Finally, Gainey earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Benedict and a 6-2, 6-2 win over Erskine at No. 6 singles.
Julia Sorrells and Charlotte Clarke earned one victory each in singles play.
Against Benedict, the doubles combo of Ruetten/Mickey (No. 1), Sorrells/Mezei (No. 2), and Clarke/Gainey (No. 3) all picked up victories during the match. The doubles tandem of Ruetten/Sorrells (No. 1), Mezei/Mickey (No. 2), and Clarke/Gainey (No. 3) earned victories en route to the Cobras win over Erksine.
