MARS HILL, N.C. –The Coker women's tennis team notched its second straight win in as many matches on Monday (Apr. 6) afternoon with a 6-1 victory over Mars Hill University. The Cobras are now 10-9 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
The match was never in question after the duos of Bailey Palmer and Ragan Palmer and Jessi Campos and Suzanna Mickey picked up 8-3 and 8-1 doubles victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. The Cobras' 2-1 lead after the doubles portion would prove to be an insurmountable lead as they won four of the completed matches in singles competition.
Jennifer Mezei would win 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Bailey Palmer picked up a straight-set victory of her own with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Campos would win a hard-fought match at No. 3 singles with the final score of 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 10-7. Mickey would close out the wins with a 6-7 (7-1), 6-3, 10-5 win at No. 6 singles.
The Cobras will have a quick turnaround as they face SAC foe Wingate at home on Tuesday (Apr. 7) afternoon. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start at the Coker Tennis Courts.
