Coker Women Pick Up 5-4 Win Over Catawba

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Coker Cobras moved to 2-1 in South Atlantic Conference play with a 5-4 win over the Catawba Indians in women's tennis action on Tuesday (Mar. 17).

The Cobras took an early 2-1 lead with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles by Bailey and Ragan Palmer and an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles by Jessi Campos and Suzanna Mickey.

A trio of victories in singles play secured the overall win for the Cobras. Jennifer Mezei had a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2, while Campos picked up her second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3. Ragan Palmer locked up the victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5.

Coker returns home to Hartsville for its next match on Saturday against Brevard College. The South Atlantic Conference match will begin at 1 p.m. at the Coker Tennis Courts.
