Women’s Tennis Selected Tenth in Preseason Poll

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College women's tennis team has been voted 10th in the South Atlantic Conference preseason poll, the league office announced today.

The Cobras finished last season 7-14 with a 4-7 conference record. They fell to Erskine in the quarterfinals of Conference Carolinas tournament.

Coker returns four players from last season, including sophomore Jessi Campos. Campos finished last season with a 9-8 record in singles play and a 4-7 record in in doubles action. She was named third team all-conference in 2013.

Wingate University took home first-place honors with 116 points and eight first-place votes. Tusculum College was voted second with 107 points and received the remaining four first-place votes.

The entire preseason ranking goes as follows: 1. Wingate University; 2. Tusculum College; 3. Anderson University; 4. Newberry College; 5. Queens University of Charlotte; 6. Lincoln Memorial University; 7. Catawba College; 8. Carson-Newman University; 9. Mars Hill College; 10. Coker College; 11. Brevard College; 12. Lenoir-Rhyne University.
