HICKORY, N.C. – The Coker University women's soccer team fell in their season finale to the nationally ranked Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears 3-1 on Wednesday (Nov. 6).

The Bears came out firing in the first half with 23 shot attempts, with eight of them being on goal. The Cobra back line, led by seniors Grayson Chappell, Neeley Reagin, and Farrah Brown, were ready for the challenge as they limited Lenoir-Rhyne to one goal, with goalkeeper Sarah Swaim recording seven saves as the Cobras trailed 1-0 heading into halftime.

"Our seniors were great tonight," said coach Garrett Linquist. "Our team really feeds off of their leadership and example."

Swaim continued her excellent play in the second half with five more saves, totaling 12 for the match. In the 83rd minute, the Cobras were able to generate a scoring opportunity of their own. Madelyn Becker escaped the Bears defense and connected on a through ball to Makayla Barr who found the back of the net. Lenoir-Rhyne held on to win the match 3-1.

"I'm proud of the effort our team gave tonight," said Linquist. "These girls have continued to use every moment to try to get better this year, and tonight was another example of that."
