Cobras fall short to The University of Mount Olive

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker University women's soccer team fell short to the University of Mount Olive on Wednesday (Oct. 9) in a non-conference matchup by a score of 4-1.

The Trojans scored three goals in the first 15 minutes, with the first one coming on a penalty kick by Jaelyn Brown. The Cobras would continue to battle when Grayson Chappell found the back of the net with an assist from Madelyn Becker at the 25-minute mark for her first of the season. Mount Olive would carry its 3-1 lead to the half.

The Trojans would then go on to score the final goal of the match in the 57th minute of play.

"I felt like we were really good in moments tonight and we were able to be dangerous," said head coach Garrett Linquist. "Our quality of possession was some of the best it has been all season. Unfortunately we put ourselves behind the eight ball a bit early, but I was really proud of how we responded and the quality of football we played for long periods of the night."

The Cobras will be back in action when they host Carson-Newman on Saturday (Oct. 12) at the Coker Athletic Field for a South Atlantic Conference contest, with game time slated for noon.
