Coker Women’s Soccer Picked Eleventh in South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll

SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE FULL RELEASE

HARTSVILLE S.C.- The Coker University women's soccer team was picked to finish eleventh in the 2019 South Atlantic Conference preseason coaches' poll, announced by the league today (Wednesday, Aug. 21).

Defending league champion Lincoln Memorial tallied seven votes and 106 points, while Carson-Newman was close behind with three votes and 100 points. Lenoir-Rhyne took the remaining one vote for first and 93 points. In fourth was Catawba with 82 points, and Tusculum was tabbed fifth with a total of 66 points. Queens (N.C.) (63 points), Wingate (59 points), Anderson (S.C.) (57 points), Newberry (37 points), Mars Hill (29 points) and Coker rounded out the poll with (17 points).

Coker finished up last year's season with an overall record of 0-13 and a conference record of 0-10. The Cobras will turn to a fresh face in Garrett Linquist in his first year as head coach in 2019. The Cobras return plenty of experience from last season, with 21 returners along with eight freshmen coming in this year. 

The Cobras open up the 2019 season at home against Francis Marion on Sept. 5.
