Coker Women's Soccer Adds Eight Recruits for 2019 Season

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Coker College head women's soccer coach Garrett Linquist has announced the signings of Lydia Plyler, Chloe Grein, Ava Kieser, Karlie Sharpe, Kiraa Roberts, Sarah Swaim, Anna Bozzone, and Reece Vizcaino for the upcoming 2019 season.

"I am very excited about the addition of these eight girls," said coach Linquist.  "This group of players will be instrumental in cultivating a culture of success here at Coker.  All eight of these girls are highly motivated individuals and will push the program forward within the classroom and on the field.  This class continues to help us get deeper across several areas of the field and will add value to the group as we look to continue to move forward.  I am excited to have these girls join in August and begin their careers as Cobras."

Lydia Plyler is a goalkeeper from Lancaster High School from Lancaster, South Carolina. Plyler racked up honors as a two-sport star for the Bruins, including three-time All-Region, and two-time Defensive MVP awards. She was also All-Region in volleyball, and the defensive and offensive MVP. Off the field, Plyler carried a 4.50 GPA, and is a member of the Beta Club, and National Honor Society. Lydia is the daughter of Hal and Marla Plyler, and plans to major in physical education.

Chloe Grein is a forward from Camden High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Grein was a prolific scorer for the Bulldogs, obliterating the school goals record of 89 by netting 103 career goals. Off the field, Grein was on the honor roll, and a member of the Beta Club. Chloe is the daughter of Eric and Stacey Grein, and has not yet declared a major.

Ava Kieser is a midfielder from Plano West Senior High School in Plano, Texas. Kieser was All-Region in high school, as well as a key player on Dallas Sting ECRL, her travel club. She was a member of the Sting's 2016 state cup finalists team, as well as their 2019 regional qualifying team. Off the field, she was on the honor roll, and a member of Best Buddies. Ava is the daughter of Andrea and Wilf Kieser, and has not yet declared a major.

Karlie Sharpe is a midfielder from Plainfield North High School in Plainfield, Illinois. Sharpe was honored by the Southwest Prairie in 2018, and a member of the team that won the 2018 Wheaton Academy Tournament. She has an extensive history in travel soccer, playing for the Evolution soccer club, Chicago Fire Juniors Elite team, and Galaxy SC. Karlie is the daughter of Glenn and Ginger Sharp, and plans to major in biology.

Kiraa Roberts is a fullback from Warhill High School in Williamsburg, Virginia. Roberts competed in soccer and track for the Lions, and also played travel soccer with Legacy. Off the field, she was on the honor roll, and a member of HOSA. Kiraa is the daughter of Kristy and Robert Hallett, and is planning to major in sports medicine.

Sarah Swaim is a goalkeeper from Tuscola High School in Waynesville, North Carolina. Swaim was the 2018 Wendy's High School Heisman Winner, the WNCAC defensive player of the year in 2017, and WMAC defensive player of the year in 2018. She was a member of the WNCAC championship team in 2016 and 2017, and broke the single-season school record for saves in 2016. She played travel soccer with Highland Football Club the U16 2016 and 2018 Premier League Champions. Off the field, she was a junior marshall, and a member of the National Honor Society. She served as vice president of National Honor Society in 2018. Sarah is the daughter of Davis and Sherry Swaim, and is planning to major in business.

Anna Bozzone is a midfielder from Aiken, South Carolina. Bozzone was the team captain of her travel club, Congaree Rapid FC. Off the field, she was an honor student throughout her high school career. Anna is the daughter of Michael and Jan Bozzone, and is planning to major in biology.

Reece Vizcaino is a forward from Davie County High School in Mocksville, North Carolina. Vizcaino played soccer for the War Eagles, and with Twins, her travel soccer club. Off the field, she was on the honor roll, served as the yearbook editor, and a GSA member. Reece is the daughter of Shayne and Rich Vizcaino, and is planning to major in psychology.
