Cobras will Celebrate Senior Day as Carson-Newman Ventures to Town

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- With one game remaining in the 2017 Coker College women's soccer season, the Cobras will host the visiting Carson-Newman University Eagles in the final South Atlantic Conference match of the year. All seven senior Cobras will be honored during halftime of the men's game. The Cobras will go to battle with the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on the Coker Athletic Field on Saturday (Oct. 28) afternoon. During halftime of the men's game, the seven seniors: Ashton Knopf, Shelby Middleton, Trisha Thompson, Autumn Fetterolf, Lexi Garcia, Phoebie Eshen, Batavia Mata, and Tiffany Dayton-Hegedus; will all be honored for their time spent at Coker.

Knopf is a Biology major and is from Palmetto, Fla and is the daughter of Lindsey and Timothy Knopf.

Thompson is from Bowmansville, Ontario and an Exercise Science major. The senior midfielder has played in 45 games with 27 starts, and has taken 16 shots with 10 on goal. Trisha is the daughter of Tracey and Brent Thompson.

Fetterolf is a Psychology major from Delmar, NY. Autumn has played in 54 games with 49 starts, has two goals, two assists, with 27 shots and is the daughter of Sheila and Brian Fetterolf.

Garcia is a Criminology major from Greer, S.C. The midfielder has played in 22 games with 17 starts, one goal, one assist, with 12 shots, and one game winner. She is the daughter of Jovanna and Sebastian Garcia.

Eshen is a Physical Education major from London, England. The senior forward has appeared in 24 game with 11 starts and owns four goals on 26 shots, and one game winner. She is the daughter of Rita Trim.

Mata is a Political Science major from San Marcos, Ca. a senior midfielder, Mata has appeared in 49 games with 38 starts, two goals with four assists on 37 shots. She is the daughter of Dee and John Mata.

Middleton is a Criminology major that is graduating early and a native of Lilburn, Ga. The senior goal keeper has played in 30 games with 22 starts, owning 213 saves and two shutouts. She is the daughter of Sherri and Tim Middleton.

Dayton-Hegedus is the team manager for the Navy and Gold from Odenton, Md. A Psychology major, she is the daughter of Kari Dayton, Steve Hegedus, and Chris Suthard.

Coker is coming off of a 1-0 victory over St. Andrews University (Oct. 25), in which Lexi Garcia struck for her first goal of the season. Kayla Lazo took a shot that deflected off of the Knights' keeper and that's when Garcia buried the shot in the back of the net. Additionally, goal keeper Samantha Hoffman collected two saves in the match, giving her 77 on the season, good for fourth overall in the South Atlantic Conference.

Carson-Newman enters the game having previously beaten King College of Tennessee, 5-0 on Wednesday (Oct. 25).

Senior Day will take place on Saturday (Oct. 28) during half time of the men's game. The women will kick off against Carson-Newman at 1:00 p.m. on the Coker Athletic Field.
