Cobras Ready to Kick Off 2017 Season Against UNC Pembroke

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- With the wait for the 2017 campaign dwindling down, head women's soccer coach Debbie McGuinness has her squad prepared to take on UNC Pembroke in the season opener at home on Thursday (Aug. 31).

Coker brings back six seniors to the pitch: Ashton Knopf, Trisha Thompson, Autumn Fetterolf, Lexi Garcia, Pheobie Eshen and Batavia Mata. Eshen led the Cobras in scoring last season with three goals in four starts.

Coach McGuinness and her team will be facing the Braves from UNC Pembroke, who finished 12-4-2 overall and 9-1-2 in the Peach Belt Conference last season. Additionally, the Braves have been chosen to finish third in the PBC and had Jasmine Senécal-Guzman, Stacey Scott and Gina Ryan selected to the PBC Preseason All-Conference Team.

Coker clashes with UNC Pembroke Thursday (Aug. 31) on the Coker Athletic Field at 7pm. Tickets for the match are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
