Cobras Host Lions in Weekend SAC Showdown

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's soccer will take on Mars Hill at home on Saturday (Oct. 1) in the team's second home contest of the season.

The Cobras were lined up to tangle with St. Andrews on Wednesday (Sept. 28) but inclement weather postponed the match. The team's previous contest resulted in a 4-0 loss at Catawba.

On the season, newcomer Phoebie Eshen leads the team with three goals, while Renee Ledesma and Ashley Hogg each have one marker on the year. Shelby Middleton has spent the majority of the time between the pipes, logging 382:19, good for ninth in the SAC. In that span she has made 29 saves (T-5th in the SAC) and owns a 1.88 Goals Against Average, 9th-best in the conference.

The Lions come into the contest with a 2-5-1 record overall and a 1-3 mark in the SAC. Breona Tate leads the Lions offensively, with six goals on the season, tied for fourth-best in the conference. Between the pipes MHU will turn to Kaitlyn Danglemaier who has logged 436:41 in goal this season, good for the eighth-highest total in the conference. 

The match is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start at the Coker College athletic field. Tickets for the match are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
