Cobras Welcome Wingate for Midweek Contest

The Coker women's soccer team will host the No. 11-ranked Wingate Bulldogs on Wednesday (Oct. 6). Video and live stats will be available for the match at www.cokercorbas.com.

The Cobras are riding a two-game win streak after back-to-back South Atlantic Conference wins over Catawba (1-0, OT) and Mars Hill (4-0). The Cobras peppered the Mars Hill net on Saturday (Oct. 3) as Batavia Mata, Heather Blaschke, Anna Vig and Jenna Pacyna all found the back of the net. Shelby Middleton made five saves in her second shutout of the year.

The Bulldogs come in with a perfect 8-0 record overall and a 4-0 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Their last contest was a 2-0 win at Lincoln Memorial back on Sunday (Oct. 4). Offensively they are led by freshman Kimmi Moore who is the team leader in points with seven. She also leads the team in goals with three.

The Cobras offense has picked up in recent games, with Batavia Mata leading the team in points (7) and Anna Vig leading in goals (3). Shelby Middleton is logging the majority of the minutes in goal, posting a 3-4 record and owning a 2.18 goals against average.

Kick-off is slated for 4:30 p.m. at the Coker College soccer fields. Tickets for the match are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
