Coker Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College women's soccer team received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2013-2014 academic year. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Cobras have won this award, which is given to teams that excel on the field as well as in the classroom.

"We are thrilled to once again receive this prestigious award," said women's head coach Dan Muns. "Each year we strive for excellence in the classroom and on the field, and receiving this award for the fourth straight year is a testament to the hard work that these young women put in, not only on the field, but academically as well."

In order to qualify for the team academic award, a program must have a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the academic year. Rostering a team of 24, the Coker women's soccer team posted a 3.11 team GPA during the 2013-14 season.

A total of 861 college soccer teams posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2013-2014 academic year. The Cobras were one of the 581 women's teams to surpass the required GPA.
