Coker Women's Soccer to Host "Assist for Autism"

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's soccer team will host the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday (Sept. 27). In addition to the game, Coker will be hosting the third annual "Assist for Autism," an event to raise funds and awareness for autism-spectrum disorders. Kickoff is set for 4: 30 p.m.

The most recognized autism awareness color is light blue. To show their support and help raise awareness, the Cobras will wear light blue T-shirts during pregame warm-ups, and the Coker goalies will sport light blue jerseys during the game. Fans are encouraged to wear light blue to the game.

"We are so honored to get to host this event for the third straight year, our program really takes playing for such a great cause to heart," said head coach Dan Muns. "We have had great success with this event the last few years and hope to continue topping our fundraising efforts. Students, faculty and staff always show great support and we hope to see everyone sporting their blue on Saturday."

The "Assist for Autism" game came to fruition after the Coker coaching staff and players wanted to give former Coker women's soccer assistant coach Jackie DeNova a way to honor her autistic sibling, Jordan.
