Coker Women's Soccer Comes Up Short in Season Opener, 1-0

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Coker women's soccer team came up short (1-0) in their season opener on Friday night against Valdosta State.

The Blazers struck quickly, thanks to a header from VSU's Leanne Bishop in the ninth minute of the game.   Bishop set the tempo, while the rest of VSU's team tried to mimic her by ripping off 28 total shots.
Goal keeper Lizz Morris saved an astounding 18-of-19 shots on net for the Cobras, while the offense struggled to put together an attack.  Coker only had two shots on goal that took place in the first half.   
The Cobras are looking to earn their first win on Sunday, September 2nd at home against Young Harris.
