Coker Recognized in Updated NWCA Individual, Regional and Team Rankings

MANHEIM, Pa. - Coker University wrestling has been recognized in the 2019-20 Super Region II individual rankings, as well as the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) national individual rankings and the NWCA Coaches' Poll. The updated rankings were released today (Nov. 27).

Five Cobras are ranked in the updated Super Region II individual rankings, while Ramon Correa is still inside the top 10 nationally at 285 pounds. John Watts is ranked sixth regionally at 125 pounds, with a 4-2 record and two wins by tech fall on the season. Chris Poland sits in third in the super region at 133 pounds, with one win so far on the season. Alex Braden sits at No. 3 in the super region at 141 pounds, with a 7-2 record on the season with five wins by fall and one win by tech fall. Jhavon Innocent is slated No. 2 in the super region at 174 pounds, with an 8-1 record so far on the season with one win by tech fall. Innocent is also ranked No. 12 nationally  at 174 by FloWrestling. Correa has taken over the top spot in the super region at 285 pounds, while also ranking No. 9 in the national poll. Correa is 3-0 on the season with three wins by fall. Correa has yet to wrestle a match into the third period this season.

Coker is also receiving votes in the NWCA's national poll. The Cobras are 3-0 in dual matches on the season, with wins over Averett, St. Andrews and Truett-McConnell.

The Cobras are back on the mat for the prestigious Midwest Classic, hosted by the University of Indianapolis from Dec. 14-15.
