MANHEIM, Penn.- The Coker College wrestling team once again placed members on the National Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-American team. Eight Cobras made the list along with the team as a whole.

With more than 300 individuals and 51 teams represented, it was the largest collective group of Division II athletes and teams ever named to the team.

Coker College wrestling claimed fifth in the NWCA Division II rankings with a 3.2855 GPA, with one student-athlete maintaining a 4.0 during the season.

Chris Navarro, a freshman from Sanford, Fla. wrestled at 125 pounds. As a biology, pre-medicine, major, Navarro earned a 3.625 GPA in his courses. He is the son of Madeline and Ricardo Navarro.

Drew Crabtree, a freshman from Sandusky, Ohio, contended at 133 pounds during the season. The elementary education major brought in a 3.286 GPA. Crabtree is the son of Travis and Nicole Crabtree.

Matthew Kieta, a biology, pre-medicine, major, obtained a 3.571 GPA in his sophomore season. The Sevierville, Tenn. native competed at 149 pounds and is the son of Maria and Kazimierz Kieta.

Ian Maund, a freshman from Sullivan, Ohio, competed at the 174 pound level in 2018. As an undeclared major, he finished with a 3.538 GPA. Maund is the son of Rebecca and Thomas Maund. He earned ECAC Rookie of the Month for January.

Jordon Garlow, a 184 pound senior, finished the season with a 3.291 GPA as a business administration, sport management, major. He also earned the honor last season. The Smithfield, Va. native is the son of Barbara and George Garlow. Garlow is the all-time pins leader at Coker.

Luis Peguero, a senior from Tampa, Fla., wrestled in the 197 pound slot. The business administration, management major is the son of Luis Peguero and earned a 3.336 GPA. Peguero finished fifth at the Super Region II Championships and ranked as high as fourth in Division II standings. He was also tabbed SPC Credit Union Student-Athlete of the month for December, along with winning the Georgia Open in November.

Robert Parland, a graduate student in the college athletic administration program, had a 4.0 GPA during the season. The 285 pound wrestler is a Jacksonville, Fla. native and the son of Latisha Washington.

Jeremy Wilson, a 285 pound sophomore, is working towards a biology, pre-medicine, degree. The Savannah, Ga. native ended the season with a 3.341 GPA. Wilson is the son of Debra and David Wilson

In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II All-Academic Team, he must have a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.0 for those who qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. The athlete must also be in at least a second full year at his school, and have competed in a minimum of six dates of competition.
