Coker To Wrestle in NCAA Super Region II Tournament

FINDLAY, OHIO- The Coker wrestling team is traveling to Ohio to compete in the NCAA Division II Super Region II Tournament, hosted by the University of Findlay, on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 23-24). In total, 13 teams will be competing, including the Cobras.

The tournament will feature five top-25 teams: No. 3 University of Wisconsin-Parkside, No. 8 Ashland University, No. t-12 University of Indianapolis, No. 15 University of Findlay, and No. 23 Lake Erie College. In addition, Bellarmine University, Belmont Abbey College, King University (Tenn.), Limestone College, Newberry College, Tiffin University, and UNC Pembroke will compete alongside Coker. Among the 13 teams, 27 of the wrestlers are ranked 12th or higher in their respective weight class.

Luis Peguero of Coker ranks seventh in the 197 class across Division II. He and Robert Parland are vying for the Cobra all-time record in wins. Peguero currently has collected 61 wins compared to Parland's 60. Jordon Garlow is tied for first all-time at Coker in falls with 19 in his career. Other wrestlers representing the Navy and Gold at the tournament include Chris Navarro (125), Drew Crabtree (133), Otto Wolin (141), Matthew Kieta (149), Bret Shurina (157), Hunter Corwin (165), and Ian Maund (174).

The first session of each day will begin at 11:00 a.m. EST. Lineups and seeding will be made public on Thursday (Feb. 22) night at 6:01 p.m. CST.
