Cobras Fall Short on Senior Night

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker wrestling team hosted the King (Tenn.) Tornado in an ECAC match to end the home season, while serving as Senior Day for multiple team members. The Cobras kept it tight, but dropped the dual, 26-21.

Three straight victories got points on the board for the Navy and Gold. Matthew Kieta won a 12-8 decision, Bret Shurina pinned his opponent in just under three minutes, and Michael Milam wrestled tough for a 12-6 decision. Luis Peguero and Robert Parland are now a part of a three-way tie for first in Coker history with their wins to finish the match. Peguero edged out a tight 2-1 decision and, with a Tornado forfeit, Parland earned six points for the Cobras.

The Navy and Gold will travel to Belmont Abbey, who will serve as the host for the Super Region II Duals, for a two-day event on Jan. 26-27. The Cobras' first match will begin at 2:00 p.m. versus Ashland.
