HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College wrestling team had four members named to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Academic team for the 2016-17 season, the league announced today. Walker Barfield, Jordan Garlow, Jacob Haydock, and Temaris Dixon represented the Navy and Gold on the 42 wrestler team.
Walker Barfield earned ECAC All-Academic honors with an outstanding 4.0 GPA. The senior business administration major finished with a 1-3 record this season and was named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Academic second team. Barfield is a native of Lexington, S.C. and is the son of Ben and Julie Barfield.
Jordon Garlow was named to the ECAC All-Academic team with a 3.10 GPA. The junior business administration major finished the season with an 11-10 record and was second on the team in pins with six. In addition, Garlow finished third in the UNC Pembroke Classic and was named to the NWCA All-Academic Honorable Mention team. Garlow is a native of Smithfield, Va. and is the son of George and Barbara Garlow.
Jacob Haydock was selected to the ECAC All-Academic team with a 3.11 GPA. The freshman visual and performing arts major finished with a 3-5 record at 157 pounds this season. Haydock is a native of Seffner, Fla.
Temaris Dixon earned ECAC All-Academic honors with a 3.265 GPA. The sophomore computer and information sciences major finished the season with a 7-4 record and three falls at 197 pounds. In addition, Dixon placed fourth at the UNC Pembroke Classic. The Chester, S.C. native is the son of Michelle and Emilio Dixon.
In order to be eligible for the League's All-Academic Team, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and have completed at least one full year at their current institution.
