Coker Wrestling Brings in Three

HARTSVILE, S.C. - The Coker wrestling team welcomes Jacob Haydock, Bret Shurina and Will White, as the three have agreed to wrestle for Coker in 2016-17.

Haydock, a Seffner, Fla. native is a two-time state placer including wining a state title as a junior at 165 pounds. Haydock lived in Oklahoma for his first two years of high school and was a state runner-up as a freshman and won a state title as a sophomore. Jacob is the son of Christie and Jason Hayock and plans to study art.

Shurina, who hails from Unionville, Va., comes in at the 149 pound weight class. As a freshman he finished second in his district, second in his region, and sixth in the state at the 2A level. His sophomore year saw a second place finish in the conference, fourth place in the region and a sixth place finish at the 4A state level. As a junior, Shurina notched a third-place finish in the conference, second place in the region and a third-place finish at the 4A state level. He was also all-conference in football. Bret is the son of Melissa and Martin Shurina and plans to study graphic design.

White is a local product from Hartsville, who attended Mayo Magnate High School for Math, Science, and Technology and was a four-year member of the wrestling team. Will is the son of Angela and William White, Jr and plans to study computer science.

Not only are they outstanding wrestlers, but they are humble, hard-working, and intensely proud of the opportunity to pursue both their academic and athletic goals at Coker. We are excited to welcome them to the Cobra Wrestling Family," said head coach Cy Wainwright
