Coker Wrestling Hosts No. 19 UNC Pembroke on Thursday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Cobra wrestling team will be back at home on Thursday (Jan. 16) for a region match against UNC Pembroke. Live coverage of the match will be available on www.cokercobras.com.

Coker is coming off a 1-1 weekend that included a 23-15 win over regionally ranked No. 10 King. As a team the Cobras are now 5-3 in dual matches, going 2-1 when wrestling in the friendly confines of the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium. Kevin Thompson continues to lead the way for the Cobra grapplers. The freshman 149-pounder has won 10 of his last 13 matches and leads the team in wins (16) and pins (6).

The UNCP Braves head to Hartsville sporting a No. 19 national ranking and a No. 7 regional ranking. They have won their last five consecutive dual matches, including winning three straight at the Virginia Duals. Christian McLean is the leading wrestler for the Braves with 12 wins and a team leading eight pins at the 285-pound division.

The Cobras and the Braves will take to the mat at 7 p.m. Tickets for the match can be purchased at the door. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and, free for all Coker faculty, staff and students.
