Coker Women's Lacrosse Rallies to Down Tusculum 22-19

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The Coker College women's lacrosse team defeated Tusculum 22-19 for an important South Atlantic Conference victory on Saturday (Apr. 6). The win helps keep Coker's postseason hopes alive with just two conference games remaining.

The Cobras trailed by as much as 8-2 halfway through the first half before rallying to cut the deficit to just 12-11 at halftime. Tusculum stretched the lead to 14-11, but Coker rallied back yet again, scoring three straight goals to tie the score at 14-14.

Faith Kent scored her sixth and final goal of the game with 6:59 to play to help secure the victory. Hannah Shuren and Alyssa Baronella-O'Toole added goals down the stretch as well, providing the three-goal cushion and final score of 22-19. Coker dominated draw controls in the second half winning 18 of 19, and 32 of 43 for the game.

Kent led the way with six goals, and Shuren, Baronella-O'Toole, and Alexis Zegan notched four goals apiece. Bailey O'Brien added two goals, and Meagan Gallagher, and Reagan Parr scored a goal each to round out the scoring for the day.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 10) when they travel to face Wingate in another key South Atlantic Conference match. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
