HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker College head women's lacrosse coach, Kate Keagins, has announced the signing of Olivia Fladung, Brooke Slone, Makenzie Stroup, and Amariah Lawson to play for the Cobras starting in the 2018-19 season.

"We are very excited to add our spring signees to our 2018 recruiting class! Olivia Fladung, Brooke Slone, Makenzie Stroup, and Amariah Lawson are all great athletes and we cannot wait until the fall," said Keagins.

Olivia Fladung was goalkeeper for the Chapin High School women's lacrosse team. While representing the Eagles, the senior was named to the 2017 SCHSLCA Girl's All Upper State, 2017 SCHSLCA AAAA Girls All-State, and 2016 SCHSLCA Second Team All Lowerstate, each as a goalie. Fladung maintained an A/B honor, while also a member of the National Honors Society and the NJROTC Battalion Executive Officer. The Little Mountain, S.C. native is the daughter of Dianne Fladung, Bob Fladung, Tina Rich, and Allison Harvey and is undecided on her major.

"Olivia is an active goalie that uses her athleticism and voice to control her defense", explained Coach Keagins. "Her leadership qualities, along with her talent, will be great skills that we cannot wait to utilize come the fall!"

Brooke Slone, a defender for East Forsyth High School, hails from Kernersville, N.C. She played both women's lacrosse and field hockey for the Eagles, earning most improved in field hockey in 2017. At East Forsyth, she was on the honor roll, along with Senior Deans and the Nursing Program. Slone also competed for NC Elite. The intended exercise science major is the daughter of John Slone, Lori Slone, and Kristin Slone.

Keagins commented, "Brooke is a talented defender that give 100 percent every time she steps on the field. We believe she will mesh well with our current defense as well as bring in a more aggressive tone that we've been looking for."

Makenzie Stroup competed for Riverside High School as a four-year varsity midfielder/attack. While playing for the Warriors, Stroup was on the honor roll every year, and was also in Revive and the Key Club. She contended for the Dreamteam as well. The Fountain Inn, S.C. native is the daughter of Ann and Phil Stroup and plans to major in social work.

"Makenzie is a skilled attacker that we cannot wait to throw in our offensive mix. Her vision and speed will be utilized often both in our transition offense and settled attack," said the head women's lacrosse coach.

Amariah Lawson is a Myrtle Beach, S.C. resident and was a midfielder/attack for Socastee High School. Lawson played both basketball and lacrosse for the Braves, earning Grand Strand athlete of the week, while being a senior captain, leading scorer, and a Toast of the Coast owner. She also participated in FCA, along with earning honor roll and perfect attendance. The daughter of Kimberly and Jonathan Thomas plans to major in music education.

About Lawson, Coach Keagins commented, "Amariah is a very athletic midfielder that works hard on both ends of the field. She's a solid defender as well as a dynamic driver on offense and we cannot wait to use her skills next year!"

The Navy and Gold wrap up the regular season Saturday (April 21) against Lincoln Memorial on Senior Day at 1:00 p.m.
