Cobras Drop Close Contest to Pioneers

GREENEVILLE, Tenn.- The Coker College women's lacrosse team traveled to northeast Tennessee to face the Pioneers of Tusculum College in a South Atlantic Conference battle. The Cobras never lead, but tied Tusculum twice and lost a close one, 16-14.

Haley McCusker had the game-high seven goals, with two added from Bailey O'Brien, and one from Katie Driskell, Faith Kent, Sarah Bryson, and Jaeme Noriega. Alexis Zegan also had a game-high with three assists and Kent contributed on an O'Brien goal. McCusker had as many ground balls as goals (7). Kent controlled nine draws while Katie Jordan, Bryson, and McCusker combined for the remainder. McCusker led the team in caused turnovers with two. Cassie Williams finished seven saves in the loss.

The Navy and Gold return to the Coker Athletic Field on Wednesday, April 11 for a conference matchup against the Wingate University Bulldogs. Opening draw is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
