Coker’s Kimball Receives IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll Honors
Coker’s Kaitlyn Kimball of the women’s lacrosse squad received Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll Honors, the association announced today.
GRAND LAKE, Colo. – Coker's Kaitlyn Kimball of the women's lacrosse squad received Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll Honors, the association announced today.
The IWLCA honored 243 student-athletes from 67 different institutions on the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
"I am extremely proud of Kaitlyn for making the IWLCA All-Academic Honor Roll," stated head Coker women's lacrosse coach Kate Keagins. "She constantly impressed me this past year on and off the field. This award, along with her other accolades this summer, is a great way for her to end her career as a Cobra."
Kimball recently graduated with degrees in physical education and psychology. The Winter Springs, Fla. native finished the 2016-17 academic year with a stellar 3.81 GPA. Other academic honors Kimball has earned includes Dean's List honors, D2ADA Academic Achievement Award honors, and SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll honors
On the field, Kimball played and started in all 19 games for the Cobras as a senior. She scored a career-high three goals and added one assist for four total points. She was second on the team in ground balls, led the team and the conference in caused turnovers with 60, and also won seven draw controls.
In addition to winning the South Atlantic Conference statistical championship for caused turnovers (3.00), she was also named to the All-SAC first team. She is third on the Coker all-time list with 136 ground balls and the all-time leader with 134 caused turnovers. Kimball is also the single-season caused turnovers record holder with 60. Her 49 ground balls in 2017 are fourth all-time on the single-season list. Finally, Kimball broke the Coker single-game record for caused turnovers in 2017, notching seven against North Greenville on Feb. 25.
