Cobras to Battle Wingate in SAC Tournament Semifinal

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's lacrosse will take on Wingate on Friday (Apr. 28) in a South Atlantic Conference tournament semifinal.

The two teams met during the regular season on March 25 with Wingate defending their home field for a 13-10 win. Mackenzie Baker and Haley McCusker each recorded hat tricks in the game, while Marabeth Durden and Claudia Jenkins each scored twice. Coker won the ground ball battle 19-18, with Lindsay Ordemann scooping up a team-high four. The Cobras won 10 draw controls in the game, with three different Cobras each collecting two. Cassie Williams made seven saves in the game.

Coker reached the semifinals after a thrilling 18-17 win over Tusculum back on Tuesday (Apr. 25) in the quarterfinal round. McCusker's six goals paced the offense,including the game-winner, while Kent and Baker each netted four goals and Kent handed out four assists. Jenkins tallied a hat trick, while Huntsinger added one goal. Coker won the ground ball battle 14-11, with Marabeth Durden and McCusker each scooping up three. The Cobras won 17 draw controls in the contest, with Kent collecting a team-high six. Kaitlyn Kimball also caused a game-high six turnovers in the win. Williams (14-4) made six saves between the pipes.

Wingate received a bye in the quarterfinals for earning the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

Opening draw is set for 6:00 p.m. at Queens University of Charlotte. Tickets for the day are $8 for adults, $4 for kids 12 and under and $2 for college students with ID.
