Cobras Host Pioneers in Saturday SAC Tilt

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's lacrosse will play host to Tusculum on Saturday (Apr. 8) in South Atlantic Conference action. Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker (9-3, 4-1 SAC) is coming off a thrilling 9-8 double-overtime win over Belmont Abbey last Saturday (Apr. 1). Faith Kent lead the Coker scoring effort with a hat trick and also dished out one assist. Marabeth Durden found the back of the net twice and added one assist, while Mackenzie Baker, Karah Huntsinger, Haley McCusker and Claudia Jenkins each scored once. Coker scooped up 12 ground balls as a team, with Kent and Lindsay Ordemann each collecting two. The Cobras also won nine draw controls, a team-high three credited to Ordemann. Cassie Williams (9-3) made nine saves in the win.

McCusker's 48 goals on the season lead the conference, while Kent's 35 are the fifth-highest total in the league. Kent's 24 assists are also third in the conference. In the points category, Kent and McCusker are No. 1 and 2 respectively, with Kent having a league-high 59 and McCusker second with 56. Defensively, Durden leads Coker and is third in the league in ground balls with 43. Teammates Ordemann and Kaitlyn Kimball are tied for eighth in the conference with 34 each. Coker has had success on draw controls this season, with Durden's 43 ranking fourth in the conference. Baker is eighth in the conference in the category with 35. Kimball continues to lead the league in caused turnovers with 38, while Durden is tied for fourth with 21. Between the pipes, Williams is fifth in the conference in saves (102), third in save percentage (50.2%) and third in goals against average (8.37).

Tusculum comes into the matchup 5-9 and an even 3-3 in the South Atlantic Conference. Offensively they are led by Savannah Elliott who is fourth in the SAC in goals scored with 37.

Opening draw is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
