Cobras Down Flying Fleet in Non-Conference Win on Wednesday

DUE WEST, S.C.- Coker women's lacrosse picked up its second straight win on Wednesday (Mar. 22), defeating Erskine 19-3.

Coker scored its goals in waves in the win, scoring the first six of the contest. Kaitlyn Kimball got the scoring started less than six minutes in with her second of the year, before Claudia Jenkins tallied at 11:03 to make it 2-0. Just 17 seconds later, Haley McCusker put Coker up by three, before scoring for a second time 37 seconds after that. Faith Kent got in on the scoring a few minutes later, followed by a Mackenzie Baker goal at 16:02 of the half. After the Flying Fleet registered their first goal of the contest, Jenkins and Baker started another run for the Cobras that saw the next seven goals find the back of the net. Jenkins tallied three goals in one minute and seven seconds, while Baker chipped in her own in between Jenkins's markers. Kent would score three times in the final five minutes of the half, along with another marker from O'Brien to give Coker a 14-2 halftime lead.

McCusker scored her third goal of the contest just 1:10 into the second half, to continue the Coker scoring run. Coker would score five of the six total goals in the second half en route to the lopsided win. Following McCusker's goal, O'Brien scored two straight in just over two minutes to complete the hat trick. Karah Huntsinger scored for the first time in the game and McCusker put the finishing touches on the win with her fourth of the game.

Kent, McCusker and Jenkins each tallied four goals in the contest, while O'Brien recorded a hat trick. Baker chipped in two goals, and Kimball and Huntsinger each torched the twine once. Defensively, Coker won the draw control battle 13-9, with Marabeth Durden scooping up a team-high five. Cassie Williams (7-2) made four saves in the win.

The Cobras (7-2, 3-0 SAC) hit the road again on Saturday (Mar. 25) to take on Wingate. Opening draw is slated for 3:00 p.m.
