Coker Names Keagins Interim Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College vice president of athletics and athletic facilities Dr. Lynn Griffin announced the appointment of Kate Keagins to interim head women's lacrosse coach today.

Keagins joined the Coker women's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach in January of 2016. She helped guide the Cobras to a record of 8-7 during the 2016 season. Under her leadership, six Cobras earned all-conference honors and two players earned Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week honors.

Keagins came to Coker after serving as the assistant women's lacrosse coach at Longwood University for three seasons. In addition to her experience at Longwood, Keagins served as the head coach of the USA Athletes International, leading her team to the gold medal in the summer of 2015.

A standout collegiate lacrosse player at the University of New Hampshire, Keagins was a two-time first team all-conference selection, an IWLCA Northeast second team all-region pick and was named the 2012 America East Women's Lacrosse Fans' Choice Player of the Year. She scored 93 goals with 40 assists for 133 points in 68 career games.

Keagins holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of New Hampshire.
