Six Cobras Receive All-Conference Accolades

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Six Coker women's lacrosse players were selected to All-SAC teams, the league announced today. Marabeth Durden, Faith Kent, Lindsay Ordemann, Claudia Jenkins, Mackenzie Baker and Kaitlyn Kimball were picked to the various squads voted on by coaches in the conference.

Durden was selected to the All-SAC first team as a defender for the second consecutive year. In 2016, Durden scored seven goals and tallied two assists for a total of nine points. She picked up 35 ground balls, won 42 draw controls and led the conference causing 41 turnovers. Durden also ranks third in the nation in caused turnovers per game (2.73).  The Orlando, Fla. native is the daughter of Michael Durden, Mitzi Sheppard, Karl Sheppard, and Lisa Durden and is an elementary education major.

Kent was tabbed to the All-SAC second team as an attack. Kent finished fourth in the SAC in goals (50) and tied for fourth in points (65). She also registered 29 ground balls, 14 draw controls and seven caused turnovers. The Winter Springs, Fla. native is the daughter of Phyllis Kent and is undecided on a major.

Ordemann was voted to the All-SAC second team as a defender. She finished ninth in the nation and second in the conference in ground balls per game with 3.80. Her total of 57 ground balls on the year was second best in the conference. The Toms River, N.J. native is the daughter of Charles and Susan Ordemann and is a physical therapy major.

Jenkins was tabbed to the All-SAC honorable mention squad, after being voted the Astroturf SAC Offensive Player of the Week for April 25. The sophomore finished the season with 43 points, scoring 33 goals and dishing out 10 assists. She picked up 51 ground balls, won 43 draw controls and caused 30 turnovers. The Keedysville, Md. native is the daughter of Kimberly Thrasher and Joseph Melody and is a biology major.

Baker was also tabbed to the All-SAC honorable mention squad as a midfielder for the second straight year. This was also her third consecutive All-SAC selection. Baker totaled 27 points stashing home 22 goals and handing out seven assists on the year. The junior also picked up 29 ground balls, won 18 draw controls and caused 16 turnovers. Baker also notched her 100th career point on March 26th against Wingate. The Orlando, Fla. native is the daughter of Wayne and Debbie Baker and is a communications major.

Kimball was selected to the All-SAC honorable mention squad as a defender, her second career All-Conference selection. The junior tallied one goal and two assists, along with strong defensive play. She collected 34 ground balls, won five draw controls and caused 36 turnovers. The Winter Springs, Fla. native is the daughter of Ronald and Emily Kimball and is a physical education major.
