Cobras Clinch Playoff Berth Behind Record Day from Jenkins

BREVARD, N.C. – Freshman Claudia Jenkins saved her best performance of the year for the regular season finale, as she scored seven goals in the Coker women's lacrosse team's 19-14 SAC win over Brevard College on Saturday (Apr. 11) afternoon. Coker improved to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in conference play, clinching a berth in the SAC Women's Lacrosse Championship.

Jenkins' seven goals are a single-game record, which breaks her own record of six from earlier in the season. She added an assist for eight points, which ties her own single-game points record. Danielle Holcomb added four goals and an assist for five points, while the trio of Millie Rogers, Lindsay Ordemann and Haley McCusker each added two goals apiece. Mackenzie Baker and Ashlyn Burgett rounded out the scoring with one goal each. Defensively, Kaitlyn Vela made nine saves in 60 minutes of action.

The score would be deadlocked at 6-all heading into the locker rooms. The game would continue to be a back and forth slugfest, eventually being knotted up at 10-10 with 15:35 left to go in the game. Coker would closed the game out on a 9-4 run to capture a 19-14 win and spot in the conference tournament.

Coker will begin play in the SAC Women's Lacrosse Championship on Tuesday (Apr. 14).
